Haynes Manor(30305), developed in the late 1920s, is a Buckhead neighborhood that takes its name from its developer, Eugene Haynes. Its spectacular entrance from Peachtree Road to Peachtree Battle Parkway has a grand European flavor. The parkway commemorates the Battle of Peachtree Creek during the Civil War. The creek forms the southern boundary of the neighborhood. Once a suburban neighborhood, Haynes Manor became part of the City of Atlanta in the 1950s when the city limits were expanded to include Buckhead.
Many homes in the neighborhood echo its name, resembling small manor houses in France of England. Later homes built in the 1930s and 1940s tend to be smaller but still are traditional in style. Huge old trees line many of the streets lending an air of southern grace and stability. The chain of parks that run down the center of Peachtree Battle Parkway attract many joggers, birdwatchers and strollers. E. Rivers Elementary School has just been rebuilt and enlarged, becoming a showplace for public schools in Buckhead. New high rise apartments and condos on Peachtree Road compliment the urban border of this gracious neighborhood.
