Brookhaven, GA Homes for Sale

Brookhaven (30319, 30324) is actually a city and neighborhood. It sits on both sides of the Fulton County-DeKalb County line. The Fulton County part is called Historic Brookhaven and is in the city of Atlanta. The DeKalb portion, which is larger, is a separate and new city, founded on July 21, 2012. With a population of around 49, 000, it is the largest city in DeKalb county. Brookhaven’s first permanent European settler started a plantation there in 1810. A settlement called Cross Keys with a population of 250 was started within the current city in 1876. Atlanta residents began building summer cottages in Brookhaven around 1910. A beautiful neighborhood was built around a nine-hole golf course, which was completed in 1912. This in turn became the site of Capital City Country Club.

Today Brookhaven is composed of several distinct areas that include a wide variety of residential styles. The most beautiful area is around the Capitol City Club, which has lush landscaping that sets the tone for the neighborhood. It also features the Brookhaven MARTA station, on Peachtree Road. You can find many styles of large single family homes from modern to Cape Cod, many of which were designed by well known Atlanta architects.
